Troubleshooting for 51626A Cartridge

HP High-Capacity Cartridge for DeskJet / DeskWriter Series

Problem:Cause:
Faded Print / No PrintPaper Dust
Solution:
Holding cartridge over sink or trash can, use water-moistened paper towel or cotton swab to gently clean jet plate area
Problem:Cause:
No PrintTape on Bubble Generator Plate
Solution:
Remove any tape that may be on bubble generator plate blocking critical air intake.
Problem:Cause:
No Print Latency
Solution:
Cartridge will need some coaxing. Clean generator plate and jet area of cartridge with water-moistened paper towel. Place in box and stand upright on moistened compress for 2-5 minutes. Remove, clean generator plate and jet area with moist compress, and print.
Problem:Cause:
Faded Print / No PrintElectrical Continuity Break
Solution:
Run self-test on cartridge per HP manual check. Using a cotton swab and 5%-10% solution of alcohol (being careful to avoid the jet area of the cartridge), clean the contact strip on the cartridge and the identical strip on the home position in the printer.
Problem:Cause:
SeepagePuncture of Air Bag
Solution:
If cartridge has been accidentally refilled through the air vent, there is a high probability the air bag has been punctured and the seeping will not stop. Discard cartridge.
Problem:Cause:
Seepage Not Fully Equilibrated
Solution:
If ink is seeping through the generator or jet plate area, it may not be fully equilibrated. Place cartridge back in box stand and let sit for an additional 5 minutes. Remove cartridge and clean generator plate and jet area with water-moistened paper towel compress. Once complete, touch the jet plate to a clean area of paper compress; there should be a dark ink spot which would indicate proper ink flow.

WARNING: As long as cartridge sits on compress, it will draw ink (wasted ink).
Problem:Cause:
Color Not TruePurging Incomplete
Solution:
Purging all the black ink from cartridge may take one-half of the first refill in a color pack. To purge quickly, set printer to print blocks, if printer has graphics capability. If not, an alternative is to set cartridge on water-moistened paper towel compress to draw ink through the cartridge.
